Duvall is at a critical time where we need to continue with responsible growth policies to protect the city’s charm while providing needed services to enhance our quality of life. I have talked to a lot of members in the community and the same three priorities consistently come up. I am pleased that these are the issues I am most passionate about:

1. Maintain Duvall’s charm. We share similar stories about what drew us to the community and most have to do with the charm of Old Town, the scenic beauty of the Snoqualmie Valley and the small town community spirit. We share a desire to ensure that the historic quality and charm of Duvall is maintained and that the local businesses will stay. I believe that the Main Street Revitalization plan is the best way to achieve this and I will work with the Council and community to ensure the plan is implemented

2. Promote responsible growth. We need to continue attracting businesses that will provide needed services while complimenting our current business community. I believe that families shouldn’t have to pack up their children and drive to neighboring cities to go shopping. We can offer needed services in Duvall and grow our economy without negatively impacting the small town charm. The south end of town is a perfect example of this, with Safeway and other new services such as Starbucks and Jiffy Lube. I will work with the Council and community to continue to attract and retain the services needed in Duvall.

3. Improve traffic flow.

To and From Duvall: Like many Duvall residents, I work in Redmond which means a 40 minute commute on a good day, more than an hour on a bad day. This represents time away from our family and friends and it is only going to get worse. The challenge is that our traffic issues are caused by bottlenecks on roads in surrounding areas like Novelty Hill, Avondale and the Woodinville-Duvall road. This requires collaboration with neighboring governments to ensure we have responsible, effective solutions for our transportation issues.
